How to play the links

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play in NYT the Games website or app.

You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. Groups can be things like clickable items, names for research study participants, or words preceded by a body part.

There is only one solution to each puzzle and you will have to be careful when it comes to words that can fit into more than one category. You can mix the words to help you see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, the blue and green fall in between, and the purple group is usually the hardest. The purple group often includes puns.

Choose four words that you think go together and press submit. If you make a guess and are incorrect, you will lose a life. If you’re close to making a correct set, you might see a message telling you that you’re just one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to switch.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some tips and, if you’re really struggling, today Connections answers. How about me Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share scores with your friends on social media and group chats.

This is your last warning!

of today Connections the answers are…

  • Yellow group – the main one (CHIEF, CHIEF, MAIN, SUPREME)
  • Green group – prickly things (CACTUS, HEDGEHOG, CAT, PINEAPPLE)
  • Blue group – very sentimental work (CHEESE, CORN, MUSH, PAP)
  • Purple group – things with a cap (bottle, graduate, mushroom, salary)

No perfect game today, but I’m going for back-to-back wins.

The yellows didn’t cause me any problems, but I did have problems with the blues. At first, I thought it was a set of food-related words, so I had three of the four words correct along with MUSHROOM. I was in guess mode after that, so I tried SALARY before PAP worked (never heard of it in this context before). That left the purple words for victory.

That’s all there is for today Connections data and response. Be sure to check my blog for hints and the walkthrough for Tuesday’s game if you need them.

PS I’ve had this song in my head for the past two days so now you can too:
